Spirits Run is more than just a 5K — it’s a movement to honor those who can’t speak for themselves.

Our mission is to bring runners of all kinds together to raise funds for abandoned cemeteries and forgotten gravesites across Illinois. No, we don’t see dead people — but we do believe their stories deserve to be remembered, their resting places respected, and their memories kept alive.

We donate to neglected cemeteries. We place flowers. We clean up headstones and overgrown paths. We even belong to cemetery history groups that help us uncover the lives behind the names.

So come volunteer. Breathe fresh air. Take photos. Learn something powerful. And help us bring dignity, remembrance, and a little joy to places that time forgot.
